It's a great day to ride a bicycle!

Welcome to NaugaBike

I was not happy with the structure of the bicycling pages on my web site. Also, I wanted to expand the cycling section. Bicycling has become my passion. First, what got me to this stage?

On completion of cardiac rehab, I was looking to continue my exercising.  Now, the treadmill got me in better shape, but using that did not do things for me. Running or just walking did not interest me either.  I started looking at getting on  a bicycle.

Bicycles abound at the discount retailers.  The problem was that seemed there were no one around to help me pick out a bike.  Lucky for me,  I stopped by Xtreme Wheels and Bill spent time with me, listening what was looking for. Now I have not been on a bicycle since my youth!  Bill fitted me up for a Trek Navigator 200 and a was the way on my bicycle adventures.

Cycling has become my life.  When I am not on the trails, you will find me working on my computer.  Much of that time is creating and maintaining my web sites and blog.

In the following web pages you will find information on my stable of bicycles, bike rides, trails, and mountain biking.  Enjoy!

New Photo Web Site

After giving away my photos for several years, I decided it was time to recoup some of my expenses. I have created a web site with my new photos.  On the web site you will find photos of events (Black Hills Fat Tire Festival, Bike Bash), races, bike rides (Xtreme Winterfest, CARP ride), and other special photos.

The new web site is  http://win-photo.photoreflect.com.

At that web site, you can view my photos and order an electronic copy.  You will need to register as a customer of mine.  Your copy will be sent to you via e-mail.

I also have a new photo blog.  Some of my recent and/or better photos are displayed there and available for sale.

While in the hospital for surgery, I wrote an essay about "Why I Ride".  The title of the essay is also a link to the essay. You will need Acrobat Reader for the essay.  The Essay was poblished in the November 2011 issue of Road Bike Action.

In June 2011, I traveled to Hayward, WI for CAMBA Festival of the Trails.  This was my second time attending this mountain bike festival. Original plans where to stop by La Crosse to ride Rails-2-Trails on the way home.  That was until I learned the new Cuyuna Lakes Ride Center was opening the following weekend, with a mountain bike festival.  Changed plans and attended the frist Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Festival in Crosby, MN.

The week between the festivals, I filled with playing "tourist" and checking out other bicycle trails.  I hiked and shot photos at Wisconsin's Interstate State Park, Copper Falls SP, Amnicon SP, and Pattison State Park.  Looked around Ashland/Bayfield, WI, and twin ports of Duluth/Superior.  Finally, a short visit to Minnesota's Jay Cooke State Park.

In October, I drove tp Deerwood, MN to ride again at Cuyuna Country State Recreation area.  Later in the month was my Army Reunion.  I rode in Little Rock, AR and Table Rock State Park (Branson, MO).  The year was ended with a trip to visit and ride in Palm Coast, FL.

2012 started off with a trip to Albuquerque.  Rode some more and different trails (pavement & dirt).  Get the low-down on the updated Albuquerque Trails page.

Bicycle Trails 2012 version are still aviable.  Contact me about ordering a copy.

Organizations

My passion for bicycle riding includes membership in and working with several organizations.

T.H.O.R. (Trails Have Our Respect) takes care of many of the trails in Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa.

IMBA (International Mountain Bike Association) Mountain bike advocacy association.

Rails To Trails Conservancy - Membership and donation to the group supports trails from old railroad lines.

 Real Bikers Pedal!

A few words about the name of this web site. Years ago friends on me named my property as The Nauga Ranch.  Some time, catch me on my bike, and I will give you the story.  It deals with those critters called Naugas and prized for the hide.
