Rapid City Parks Dept has a trailer that holds 16 bicycles. Our bikes were loaded on the trailed and we were shuttled to Deadwood. On day 1 on the Mickelson, eight of us on the ride. I only rode 10 miles - Dumont to Rochford. Others started riding from Deadwood - too many miles up steep hills. Special thanks to our drivers - Amy & Erin. A great job keeping track of us. Weather was cold, damp, some drizzle. Trail surface was soft but ride able without damage. The following photos were taken on day 1. |

Day 2 the ride was South from Hill City. I stayed with the vans over the first section. At The Mountain Trailhead (near Crazy Horse) I joined the ride, the goal to ride to Pringle (17+ mile). Most of that section is downhill. We stopped in Custer for lunch. On the trail again, we rode through bright sun, clouds, wind, rain, and even ice (sleet or hail). Ended the ride at the Minnekahta trailhead. The following photos were taken on day 2. |
