Janaury we finally got enough snow for snow riding
at Lake Manawa. The winter has been a lot
of riding on pavement. Feels good to be back
in the woods once in a while.
My first snow ride this season was on Janaury
12th. We got an inch+ of new snow overnight, so I was the first wheel tracks down the trail.
Holiday weekend - M.L. King Birthday. After Saturday
breakfast, I saw on facebook that a group was riding
at Manawa, time to head over there. Another
cloudy day. Long ride - 11 miles in the snow.
The next day I was back for more. After breakfast, I headed to Manawa for a short ride. My legs are still
tired from the ride yesterday, but wanted to worked them a little.
Also, I wanted to check out my new studded tires on the hardtail. A nice, clear,
sunny day! My this time, the trail was well
packed. The last photo in thie group shows the packed
snow pavement trail.
Saturday February 14th - The Omaha/Council Bluffs got some 5-8" of snow yesterday. Many of us
have been getting singletrack withdrawal. So, it was time to head to
Lake Manawa Mountain Bike Trails! Dan, Martin & Ryan joined in the ride. They headed out as I also
took to the trail (much slower). When I got over to the East side, I
was the first rider on one trail.
Have you had enough of snow rides? Three snow rides at Lake Manawa in as many days! Had to take advantage of the new snow and nice weather. Here's
photos taken the second and third days.
