Prairie Bike Trail - Buffalo Gap National Grassland

This trail is not easy to find.  Lots of places didn't even know what I was talking about. Here's the skinny. First, stop in at the National Grassland Visitor Center in Wall, SD, they have a map (free) showing the bicycle trail.  Drive from Wall to I-90 Exit 116, exit South.  I know you see nothing, but about 1/4 mile you will see missle silo. Park along the road beween the silo and the curve.  The trail startes out at that curve.

The trail markers (this stake) are difficult to see and are spaced just that you can see them - if would look carefully.  Most of the trail is grass.  A little of it crosses "Badlands" type terrain.

Yup - that's a trail marker up there!

The Badlands Wall

The Wall Drug Dino

While you are in Wall, you might as well stop in Wall Drug.  You saw all the signs!  A 80ft Dinosaur greets drivers on Interstate 90 at Wall.

Black Hills

The Black Hills are riddles with mountain bike trails.  There is not any good guide (that I have found) that lists them.  I know that BHMBA (Black Hills Mountain Bike Association) is working on such a list.

During the 2008 Black Hills Fat Tire Festival, I rode a section of South Dakotas Centennial Trail.  Check out that page.
