I have enjoyed photography for many years. Most of my pictures have been taken on vacation or as a hobbie.  For several years I was the photographer for my VFW post in New Hampshire, including stints as District and State Public Relations Chairman & Photographer.  Shot a lot of black & white in those days!

I've posted some of my favorite pictures on the Photo Pages of this website. Remember: The difference between an Amateur photographer and a profession is that the amateur shows you ALL of his pictures!

 Cameras

If I travel with the intention of taking a lot of pictures, the array of cameras is pretty extensive - for a hobbie.

35mm:  Canon FTb, A1 and AE1 bodies with a wide variety of lenses. On a trip, I like to keep 3 different types of film in the camera bodies - B&W, 200ASA color and high speed color print film. (Seems that recently with all my digital cameras, I very seldom now use film).

Kodak APS camera with limited zoom

Canon A20 digital camera - 2.1 megapixel.

Canon Digital Rebel camera (6.3 megapixel).

Canon A540 digital camera - 6.1 megapixel)

JVC Digital Movie camera

Tony Hawk helmet-cam

Darkroom

I don't currently have a darkroom set up.  Have the equipment including an old Bogen T-35 enlarger.

I have been working more in the digital darkroom.  Most of the photo retouching is done with Microsoft Digital Image Pro 7.  Some tasks are better with Photoshop Elements.  I like Raw Shooter Essentials over the Canon software.

B&W Film Test

While purchasing film for my Colorado trip, I noticed a new film from Kodak.  The black & white film (ASA 400) is processed with color chemicals (C-41 process).  It had been a while since I took any B&W photos on a trip so decided to try the film.

The linked page provides the results of using this film and my opinion of the film

Photo Retouching

Working with my Vietnam photos was the first I made serious efforts at performing color correction and touch-up on the computer. I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 and Microsoft Digital Image Pro 7.0 as software.  I picked up books on using Photoshop Elements and digital color correction.
