Here's the short story of Tom
Winfield:
I grew up on a farm in SE Wisconsin.
My mother still lives
on part of that land. Graduated from Salem
Central High School in 1965. Off to Case Institute
of Technology for a degree in Electrical Engineering.
While at Case, I joined Sigma Chi Fraternity.
There was a brief interruption in my education
with a stint in the Army, including 13 1/2 months
in Viet Nam.
Started working for Electro-Motive
Division of General Motors in October 1971. While
working for EMD, I lived in Cleveland, OH, the Seacoast
area of New Hampshire. SW Chicago suburb of
Bolingbrook and finally my acreage near Council
Bluffs, Iowa.
Over the years I've traveled
to all of the 50 United States. Visited Canada
many times and recently Mexico. Been to Australia,
Hong Kong, Nigeria, United Arab Emirates, Denmark,
Sweden, Netherlands, U.K. and Switzerland. There
are a few other countries where I spent an overnight
or just a plane layover. As time permits,
I'm hoping to get through slides from these trips
to include on this website.
I'm a life member of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars and Military Order of the Cootie.
Life Loyal Sig and member of the Omaha Sigma
Chi Alumni Chapter. Member of American Radio
Relay League, SW Iowa Amateur Radio Club, and Ak-Sar-Ben
ARC.
